A lot of backyards just sit there. No real flow, no defined spaces - just an open area that never quite gets used the way it should. That's exactly the kind of yard we started with here. The goal was to build something that actually made sense to live in.

We came in and tackled this one from multiple angles at once. A concrete patio went in as the main hardscape anchor. From there, we built out a gravel fire pit area with a boulder retaining wall that separates the entertaining zone from the lawn. The stepped block entry into that space keeps movement natural and clean. It's the kind of layout that makes a backyard feel intentional.

The softscape side got just as much attention. Fresh dark mulch was laid into the planting beds along the boulder edges, new plants were staged and set for installation, and the lawn area was seeded and covered with straw to get new grass established. Every piece of it ties back to the same design direction.

What we love about a full landscape design and build like this is that nothing feels random. The hardscape and softscape work together. The boulders aren't just decorative - they're doing a job. The gravel, the steps, the mulch beds - it all has a purpose and a place. That's the difference between a yard that just has stuff in it and one that's actually designed.

Projects like this take coordination and a clear plan from day one. When you bring in concrete work, retaining structures, planting, and lawn restoration all under the same scope, every trade has to be sequenced right. We handle all of it, which is why the finish comes out cohesive instead of patched together.
